A House for Wally and Me is a children’s story about Allie and her family who help volunteers from Habitat for Humanity build a house for them. Allie gets her own room and the dog she has always wanted. Included are discussion questions, facts about home-building, and information about Habitat for Humanity.

This book presents an opportunity to teach children about volunteerism while educating them at the same time about home construction and the Habitat program. It displays a combination of illustrations and actual pictures of a home under construction. Many pages include a side bar that highlight features that parents and teachers can use to engage the children in discussion to enhance the educational experience.

A House for Wally and Me is a book that is perfect both for families as well as for use in the classroom. It’s the type of story children will remember for a very long time.

A House for Wally and Me is Gene Stelten's fourth book to benefit Habitat for Humanity. Gene was one of the first Habitat volunteers in the Metro Atlanta area, and he was a founding board member of Habitat North Central. His first three books sold over 80,000 copies with over $100,000 in profits directly benefiting Habitat for Humanity. In November of 2009, Gene celebrated his 25th year as a Habitat for Humanity volunteer. Gene is an outstanding individual and an inspiration to everyone he comes in contact with.
