Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in helping Habitat North Central Georgia build simple, decent affordable homes for deserving families in our community. Our volunteers are a fundamental part of our organization and their hard work and dedication make our ministry possible. While most people associate Habitat with construction, we are always looking for volunteers to hammer & nail, help perform administrative tasks in our office, or serve on a committee. Below you will find a list of our current volunteer needs.
Current Needs
Construction: We are not accepting Saturday volunteers at this time. The house sponsors providing the funding to build our homes work on Saturdays. If you are part of an organization that might be interested in house sponsorship, please visit the House Sponsorship area.
We are currently accepting volunteers for Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday in Forsyth and North Fulton Counties. The weekday workday begins at 9 AM and ends at 3 PM. No construction experience or knowledge is necessary. Please note that all construction volunteers must be at least 16 years old. We do not build on Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday nor do we build during the evening.
In preparation for volunteering, construction volunteers may complete an online training course by clicking here. We encourage you to learn more about construction safety by completing this course; however, it is not a requirement to volunteer.
Family Selection: We rely on community volunteers to review applicants to our program and recommend applicants to our board for approval. We are periodically looking for Family Selection Committee members in all three areas.
Family Support: We rely on volunteer mentors to assist our family partners with the transition to homeownership in each of our three areas - Cherokee, North Fulton, and Forsyth/Dawson. If you are interested in mentoring a family, we may not have an immediate need, but we can contact you when we do.
Restore: We rely on volunteers to help unload donations and stock shelves at our ReStore. If you are interested in volunteering, please visit the ReStore page.
Photography: If you are a professional photographer or take pictures as a hobby, we can use your volunteer services. We are always looking for skilled photographers to take pictures at our builds for use on our website and in our printed materials.
